I am a social worker who is just learning to "surf the web". I am the director of an adult respite day care center, meeting needs for victims (patient and families) of all kinds and stages of dementia ie alzheimers, parkinsons, stroke and heart related, etc. I am always interested in what the caregivers are going through, new research, and other programs. I hope I can gain much useful information here to help me and my family cope with my mother's Alzheimer's. This truly is a devastating disease and an emotionally gutwrenching thing to watch someone you love fall so helplessly victim.

I cannot not imagine a disease more emotional and deavasting than this. My husband's mom, whom I love very dearly has it. My husband and his sister are just wrecks trying to deal with everything. The fact that it drags on for years just getting worse and worse is something we try not to dwell on. I would love to see more research for this awful disease that will strike so many people.
