Bavarian Sausage and Sauerkraut

Ingredients:

- 1 onion, peeled and diced
|
- 2 (19 oz) packages of sauerkraut, drained
|

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Put bacon into ovenproof casserole dish and cook on stove top for 2 to 3 minutes over low heat. Stir in onion, cover and continue cooking for another 6 minutes at same heat setting. Add sauerkraut and mix thoroughly, put in clove and season thoroughly with pepper and perhaps, just a little salt. Pour in wine and water add the bay leaf and caraway seeds. Mix well, bring to boil then cover and transfer into preheated oven. Cook in oven for 2 hours. Slash sausage skins on a bias with a sharp knife to aviod splitting the sausages during cooking. Nine minutes before end of cooking put sausage into casserole to be heated through. |
